« on: Jul 06, 2005, 11:20:32 PM »
Hi, im learning how to weld, was wondering if anyone could tell me more or less what i should start off with. I got the oxyacetalyn tanks and i also have a Lincon 225 Arc welder.... what kind of pipe bender should i look into for roll cage fabrication? what kind of press break should i also look into? Thanks for all the info

i would start off learning on a mig, its alot easier, and initially, alot more forgiving. even comotose brain transplant patients, such as myself, can mig, arc, is easy, but you have to develop a skill level to get it going. as far as benders, toybuilt and i have built cages, and a handfull o bumpers using a cheapo hand bender, like a press with dies, they cost only 75 or so.press brake? havnt needed one yet, and i been at this for a while

Well a hydraulic tube bender would be ideal, but they cost alot. You can get some that you use a long breaker bar to make the bend, and they come with different fitting. You can also get the cheap tiny hand held ones like crawlerdan talked about but they only bend so far until the metal get distorted.
