Looks like your project is coming along nice Tonka, I have a question since I'm looking at doing this to my truck, no not the whole deal but when you cut the skirts on the rear of the bed did it affect opening the tail gate? Every time I think about doing that I look at it and think it's gonna be to weak to support the gate.

I haven't noticed any conisderable weakness. My bed is not in the best of shape, but I can stand on the tailgate and on the end without any bending or signs that I should have left the skirts. I don't think it hurts anything.

Good to know, I always thought it may weaken the hinge area and I may have to put a brace in.

What happened?

I just bought a house. I don't have a garage right now and could use another Tacoma.

The truck runs and drives. It just needs some work on the fit and finish.

lol i guess i should read through the whole post lol. looks like your not going in the flatbed direction hahaha.  the rockwells under the toyota looks badass dude!!!!

it looks like your leaf spring is going to hit the frame when going down the road cause of that shackle angle. also, with the angle of your draglink you might take out that heim or cause a lot of stress on the pitman arm cause it already looks like its misaligned as much as it can be.

Holy crap what an old thread. This rig has been in my back yard for over a yard now. The 7m was full of water and seized up so I helped Peter part it out. Now it's a frame and body sitting in the yard.  :rivers:
83 long bed 2wd sas, 3rz, w56, duals with 4.7 rear, 4.88 elock front, spartan rear, 39.5 iroks
01 double cab hunting truck
06 tacoma street truck

Wait, what?  I was just thinking of him and this truck a couple days ago when talking about axle swaps.  Any idea how Pete's doin and what he's up to?
