Hi I ordered a short throw kit from marlin last year. I havened had the time to install it till now and because I am located in Iceland I didnīt send in my stock shifter cause the shipping would had killed me. I received a e-mail from marlins staff with instructions on how long the shifter tip should be and some instructions on how to make a dog leg shifter..... Now of course I have lost the e-mail and I am not sure enough about the leanght of the shifter tip....

Can someone tell me how long it should be or how much longer or something like that?

With regards Bazzi

The tip must be lengthen the same thickness as the spacer plate.

The dogleg shifter will need to match your application. We use 1/2" cold roll bar stock as needed.

Translation for the Polish impaired......"lengthen"=lengthened
Just kidding Marlin

Bazzi, if the block is 1" thick, make the tip 1" longer. I usually cut it about an 1/8th to a 1/4" from the ball. That way I can tapper that end a bit so when I weld it back it gets good penitration.
Make sure before you cut it that you mark it with a vertical line so you can line everything back up when you weld it togeather.

öYes sorry it was a silly question. I didnīt give me the time to figure it out my self... I took took the ball placed it in the short shift base and measured it.... the I measured an original shifting base (the leanght from the tip to the base).   I drilled a lille hole for the tip to sit in and weldet it in.      :slap:
