Hellooo,

Well, Im wondering if anyone can name this transmission + transfercase ? I dont remember if its 4 or 5-speed, but it have passenger-side drop. I think it looks like Toyotastuff...
Is it any strong ? And if possible can someone fill me in with specifications on them. You know: ratios, splines, weight, material, chain or gears and so on...

Thanks,
ARH

There is a crossmember in the way...did you take the pic?  What vehicle was this in?  Can you get a better picture of the tranny?

Its from the late 80s. It was connected to a 2,3L Isuzu diesel, Im pretty sure this is an engine used by Toyota on construction eqiupment etc.

Thanks for the input so far !

:ha_ha: I have never seen anything like it. It looks like it is Jap thou because the U joint is in a flange and the slip rear is the way the newer Nissan's are. I would guess it could be Isuzu or something. I am only guessing.

Studded flanges?  Look at the bolt heads, that may help give it away.  What ever it is , ithas a straight axle up front. I don't think Nissan ever made a straight axle, at least in the US.

It's made by Mitsubishi under contract through Willys, it is a 1954 MB3-OB (Overseas Built) So that would make the the Drivetrain Mitsubishi.

What is studded flanges ?

You never had your flanges studded?  It's the latest fad these days.  :psss:

Back to the truck thing, Look at the front driveshaft flange, see the nuts on the U joint side, that looks like it has studs to me. Or it could be somebody put the bolts in backwards.

Datsun offered a solid-axle 4x4 pick-up in 1979 in the U.S.  Their production numbers were fairly low, and they are an extremely rare find these days, i've only seen one in person my whole life; it looked similar to the '79 Toyota solid-axle of the time, with no axle gusseting what so ever.
