So Cal: Anywhere good to eat?

Looking for some good places to eat in LA area of different ethnicity.  Wanna mix it up a little, ya know?  Viva la Pink's!!!

Nayala on Fairfax for excellent Ethiopian food, Yes the have food in ethiopia for all you uncultured who were thinking about being smart(or stupid) - if you like to eat good food, meat potatoes etc you wont be disappointed

Papa Cristos on Pico and Normandie for a great Greek food and deli, go Thursday night at 6pm for a 6 course meal and live dancing.

Domiano's Pizza on Fairfax for some damn good pizza, or go across the street for Canter's Deli

El Cholo on Western for Mexican food, or La Taquiza on Figeroua both excellent

Bossa Nova on Sunsent Blvd - for Brazilian

Phillipe's on Alameda for good French Dips, sawdust on the flloor kinda place.

El Cholo is also good,and Tiny's Island on Wilshire and Union.......But don't go anywhere near there @ night! :shake_head: .

Tiny Island is gone.  It's a dirt lot now.

on another note.  A great thing about LA is you can get food anytime of night.  Hungry at 3am, no problem you can go almost anywhere and find food.  I love that about LA


Some late night favorites open 24 hours.
Kettle in Manhattan Beach
Jerry's
Mel's on Sunset
Tommy's
etc etc

I know Pink's isn't 24hours but they are open late like 2 or 3 am.  You can go at midnight and there's still a line.

I would love to more away from SoCal but I think I'd miss the food. There are some great restaurants here.  I travel a lot and I find it hard to find good food once I leave California.  I guess we are spoiled out here.  Most towns the best place to eat is Applebee's, not bad food, just nothing to write home about.  When I'm on the road I always miss the food.

Try and find a good Japanese restaurant outside of CA, or even the west coast.  They are out there, but sometimes hard to find.  Same with good seafood as you head inland.  Here I have my pick of about 20 Japanese places locally that I can think of, all good.  If your in the Valley, Sushi Yaki has sushi for $2 and order!!!  On Van Nuys and Van Owen.  Try their spicy rolls if your brave.  :maddest:  DUDE, I talking HOT!!!  You order your spicy roll on a scale of 1 to 10.  10 being hottest and if you eat 2 10's they take your picture and put it on the wall and give you a T-Shirt.  The most I've had is a 3 or 4, and that's hot

If you head out my way in Orange County, Matsu in Huntington Beach or Mitsuyohsi in Garden Grove have some of the best Japanese food around.

The best Japanese I have ever had was in a truck stop in BFE in Texas.  The owner was a guy who was in the internement camps during WWII, and his kids all run the place now.  talk about  :yumyum: and I'm not a big fan of aisan food.
