I tried to quit once using the patch. After 3 days, I had the patch on, a dip in, and a cigarette all at once. Guess what, I didn't get sick like they say.

My  wife  quit about 8 years ago and at times she was a little grumpy, she quit cold turkey. Her dad had been a smoker since he was 12 and when he started having major health problems it scared the crap out of her so she just quit.  I never have smoked but I understand your troubles not only from watching her go through the withdrawls but I'm a bear if I don't have my coffee.

I quit  :smoke:  in December 2004.  It's been about 4 months.  I got tired of spending the money on a "hobby" that goes up in smoke.  Backwoods sweet aromatic cigars.  I was the "grouch"  :tantrum:  sometimes but that part has passed.  My girl friend was very patient with me, she doesn't smoke.  Yep, I'm a lot more hungry now and I am putting on weight, but that will be the next project, loose the weight. :ack:

Makahon, if you can find something that helps take the place, it helps.  I have never smoked, but I do have my nasty little habit of dipping, which I am quitting as well.  I need to go cold turkey, but I just havent done it yet   I had a friend who smoked, and he started chewing cinammon sticks, the natural plants that're rolled up, and he successfully quit.  (his wife liked the smell better too :hahaha: )

Yep, beer drinking definitely increases the smoking, but so does :coffee:

My mom always told me "Nobody likes a quitter!" so I still do.

I've quit 4 or 5 times, holding a pen worked, beer doesn't help at all!

yup, did it off and on for about 5 years. more so over the last year, year and a half but It has come time for the can to wind up in the curb.  I know it is better for me, and my life, but I have other incentives to quitting as well, like a very wonderful young lady that I love very much   Tell you what though, as soon as I decided to quit, the cravin hit like a sack of bricks.

I've already gone through a bag of sunflower seeds  :hahaha:
