New member hello and question about output shafts
« on: Nov 28, 2023, 01:41:31 PM »
Hello,

For a project, I need an output shaft that will fit a driveshaft disconnect device

    https://trailtough.com/product/rear-drive-disconnect-for-toyotas/

which I believe is a 21 splined output shaft from the following vehicles
  • 1979 – 1995 Toyota pick up
  • 1985 – 1995 Toyota 4Runner
  • 1995 – later Toyota Tacoma gear driven non-turbo cases only
is that correct? Does anyone have a picture of one?

Thanks, do you have any ideas on obtaining one?

Unfortunately I handed 2 out this last few months. Do you have single case or duals that you are adding the dis connect? If you already have gear drive in your truck. The disconnect is a bolt on mod. I would start looking for somebody that has done a dual case setup. They should have 1.

Ok thanks. Once I get enough posts I will post a Wanted to Buy in hopes that someone doing the mod you are referring to will have an extra one.

I'm adding this to a non toyota vehicle, so I don't have anything to start from.

Just out of curiosity, what are you planning to put in.. are you planning on cutting down the toyota output shaft.

Yes that's correct. I need the front portion to adapt to a factory slip yoke, then the DSD and then off to the front differential. It's a Nissan.

Trail tough told me the rear pinion spline is the same but it's very tight to slide onto and therefore could damage the bearing during install.

What about a front output shaft. I have alot of those. Same spline I'm sure.. let me go get one out. I'll take a pic

I pressed the bearing off to give you a better look. Also one pic with flange on.

Thank you for these. Fortunately Marlin just called me and told me they had a used one to sell for 45 dollars, so I bought it and it'll be here sometime next week with my DSD.

That's great. I usually get 100 bucks for rear output. What a deal...

That might be a possibility, let me get the parts in and ensure I haven't engineered (in my head) a paper weight and then I can go from there
