Just saw this as well on fb.  Sucks, his legacy lives on through all of us though.

This is awful.  I am lucky enough to have met him at mcr 2019 and that has left a lasting impression on me.

Deepest sympathies to his family.

Really bummed to hear this. Although I’ve been out of wheelin for the better part of a decade, Marlin was a good dude and paved the way for yota crawlers. I remember buying parts from him 20+ years ago. He touched a lot of people for sure and will be missed big time.

Thoughts and prayers to his family.

I will miss his laugh, his voice as he tells us of Toyota knowledge and for making our trucks the Best Off-Roaders on the Planet.  Thanks Marlin for being a Friend to all that met you and a Hero to all Toyota truck owners.  Rest Well Sir Marlin, You earned it!

Marlin is one human that God made special.

If it were not for Marlin and his genius, and one of the first Crawler T-cases he made, I doubt I would have 4-wheeled a Toyota pickup for over 20 years.

I had the incredible pleasure of wheeling with Marlin around early 2000 at one of the ASA4WDC/Mesa 4-Wheelers Jamboree events.

Marlin was my tail-gunner and wingman. We wheeled most of the day in Martinez Canyon.  He and I had numerous times to talk Toyota.

One particular spot at the end of the trail was a 10-foot vertical drop-off into a very steep angled rocky sluice down to the beginning of the trail. After you dropped into the sluice, you had to make a very sharp lefthand turn.  I remember when I pulled up to the edge and stopped, I got out to look it over before dropping off. Marlin had also gotten out of his red Toyota and we both stood there looking over the edge. Several Jeeps had dropped off into it before it was our turn.  I looked at Marlin and said something about the pucker factor.  He said something about our wheelbases helping to reduce the pucker. He was a real pleasure to wheel with.

He will be missed by many. :sad2:

Sad to hear that, he was a good man.  First time I met him, was nearly 20yrs ago in Johnson's Valley on a Tin Benders run.  He was leading the run, yet spent most of his time fixing rigs where the drivers didn't have a clue as to what to do, let alone having the parts to to fix their broken rigs, and did it all with a smile on his face.

Met Marlin in the late '80s. The man has been in my thoughts, be them related to my vehicles or just Marlin, always.
The man had vision for sure, but that vision was driven by a passion hardly rivaled!
On top of his passion for his works and wheelin' he definately had as stong a sense of community! He remembered each person he had contact with, in the shop, on the trail, and always met you with a smile on his face and a positive attitude!

Marlin will be sorely missed.

Rather than post up under the official announcement, I figured I would post up this bit of history.  I was given this flyer on a trail up out of Chico one snow wheeling trip, must of been '94/'95 or '95/'96.

Marlin was one of the best men. One of my personal heros.  The man was always willing to help someone out with his vast skills and experience.   An example to us all.  He was not with us long enough but he sure did live!  Rest in peace Marlin.  Look forward to wheeling with you on those slippery golden trails...
