W56 swap. Speedometer stop working after 2 minutes?

1986 Toyota 2wd. Found a 5 speed on CL while engine being rebuilt. Transmission was missing the speedo sensor. The original out of my truck fit good. Drove it it for a mile. Speedometer stopped working. Can anyone point me in the right direction
