3rz A/C swap question
« on: Apr 04, 2022, 08:19:56 PM »
I've got a 95 4runner that was originally a 3.0 auto,. It's now got a 2002 4 coil 3RZ in it. What do I need to do to make the A/C compressor clutch engage? Everything is hooked up and charged but the clutch won't engage off the button on the dash.  Can't seem to find anything on a 95 reading through the swap thread.
Thanks!

I don't know about your engine, but in my 22R and 22RE there is wire to the compressor that energizes the clutch.  The switch on the dash activates that wire.

Is a wire attached to the A/C compressor, and did you check that there is 12 volts at the wire?

Yes everything is connected and hooked up with not getting power at the clutch.

did it ever work after the swap? did the person that did the swap connect the compressor clutch wire from the 3rz harness to the clutch output wire from the ac amplifier on the 4runner?
I have a lot of ac notes and wiring notes here https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/3rz-2rz-swap-notes.1236525/
my guess is that you need to connect the light green wire from the 3rz IK2 plug to the black/white? 4runner body harness plug or whatever color the ac amp clutch wire is on the 4runner. most likely behind the passenger kick panel.
