They are ramping up the rate of committee. Just read that earlier, something like 150 up to 450.

Oh I saw that but but didn’t see any increase yet. Dream flows shows 95cfs right now, but I guess it will change.

It’s supposed to rain Sunday and Monday. Hopefully that clears the fires and smoke and the trail reopens!

Looks like a lot of us are following the situation. :willynilly: Question is, at the risk of all the Round Up attendees will the event be canceled? I for one, would like to know, sooner than later, if it will be canceled so I can change my plans in the coming week for a change of plans next weekend. :dunno:

Hello Round Up aficionados,

We have been watching this fire since Tuesday morning and it's really not looking good. We obviously need to make an official decision soon as we have international travelers too who'll be leaving for the event within 3 days.

Will be replying back soon.

Thanks for the update, Big Mike. I already know of some distant travelers making their trek now. Not sure if they are yet aware of the situation we are faced with regarding the event. Hopefully a decision can be made soon. 👍🏽

PSA For immediate release:

Hello all Round Up fans! There is an ongoing fire near the Rubicon Trail (FB updates: #MosquitoFire) which has become a major risk to our event. The fire is not endangering the trail, however, because safety crews are needed to fight the fire and are unavailable to respond to any incidences on the trail, the Rubicon Trail has been closed. The forest service will reevaluate the conditions Monday morning. There is a slim chance we can use Meadow Lake and parts of the Fordyce trail for the event, however, both trails are in the region of the fire guaranteeing unhealthy air quality.

Therefore, if you are sensitive to poor air quality or have existing respiratory health concerns, then we are sorry but please do not come. If you have to make a decision sooner than later, then we are sorry but please do not come. Right now we cannot guarantee the event and will work out refunds similar to what we had to do last year. Might be time to consider a change of date and/or venue for the Round Up going forward.

Our 19th annual Marlin Crawler event history:
2020 MCR19: Cancelled, Covid.
2021 MCR19: Cancelled, #CaldorFire.
2022 MCR19: Cancellation likely, currently hanging in the balance.

We will update everyone as soon as we can next Monday. We are very sorry for this news.

Mike I feel like you guys should do a vote using only the people who register for the event to either keep it the same date or move it to an earlier date in the year. I believe it should be moved to an earlier date to avoid fire season. It doesn't look like it's getting better.  Three years in a row.

We are sorry to announce that this year's Round Up has been cancelled due to the on-going #MosquitoFire. :sad2:

The Rubicon trail is still closed and air quality near and/or on the trail is rated hazardous... We will provide additional details as we get things figured out on our end, which will include procedures for refunds. In the meantime, we ask for your patience and understanding as we have a lot to get processed here.

Regards,
BigMike

Maybe I am blind but it says tri tip dinner and raffle but when you go to register it mentions nothing about tri tip dinner or the option for extra meal tickets?

It says to call big Mike at Marlin. Do you guys not want to publicize the event incase to many people sign up? Seems like the signups have not been posted anywhere and we had to find out via the forum

Oh, well that is odd, Big Mike doesn't take calls for the company, our sales team handles that.

From what I understand, we are going to be making an announcement of some kind very soon.

The round up being held by RTF is a first for them as well as MC, so I am sure there are some issues that are being worked out.
