Hey Everybody
« on: Jan 01, 2022, 07:53:56 PM »
Just wanted to take a minute and say hello. Also wanted to say thanks to everyone that shares their knowledge and help on this board. I have learned a lot just reading your post and you helped me make good decisions when it comes to my truck. I bought "Cotton", an 83 longbed, out of a cotton field in South Carolina. It had been there long enough they had plowed and planted around it! Got it started and drove it home. It needed almost everything but I have been making good progress. The best money I have spent was a trans and clutch from Marlin. I did get worried when ups lost my tranny for several weeks-turns out it went to Utah-go figure...But now I have really gotten into these things and have been buying up trucks when I find them-nothing like spare parts! Will post some pictures when I am able. Thanks again.

Welcome to the gang.

The 1983 pickup has always been my favorite year before the 4th Gen 1984 thru 1988.

It’s interesting, and puzzling, why LC Engineering shows the 1983 the last year of the 3rd Gen and the first year of the 4th Gen?  I’m sure someone out there can explain that.  I like the looks of the round and flared wheel wells.

This is a classic look for a 1983 pickup, painted with emphasis on the flared wheel wells.  https://automotive-classifieds.com/detail.php?listing=60772&tm=1640159283

I am eager to read about your new project vehicle.

L52-Had a bad knock in 5th. Ordered the HD version and it is great. Quiet and smooth.  On a side note-Just started my winter project and tore down an early 22r to get it ready for the machine shop. Doesn't look too bad but has a lot of miles on it. We will see what the machine shop says.

I just bought a 79 3/4 ton from the original owner. She is in her 90's! The 20r runs great and the interior is great. trying to decide if I should part it out or sell it. I hate to part out a tight truck. I will post some pictures when I am able to.
