Hello Everyone
« on: Feb 15, 2021, 01:24:48 PM »
My name is Noah. I'm 22 and I've got a thing for old Toyotas. To date I've had:
1998 4Runner Automatic SR5 4x4 (5VZ-FE)
1993 Hilux Pickup Standard Cab Manual DX 4x4 (22R-E)
1997 4Runner Manual SR5 4x4 (5VZ-FE)
1984 Hilux Xtra Cab Manual DX 2wd (22R)
1996 Tacoma Xtra Cab Manual DX 4x4 (3RZ-FE)

AndI am currently building out my 1979 Hilux Long Bed 4x4 (20R to 22R-E). I just need some help with the wiring for the gauge cluster and the ignition. I have removed ALL of the wires from the pickup and swapped in a complete engine and body harness from a 94 pickup (same year as the 22R-E). I just don't know how to splice the wires for the gauge cluster or the ignition stuff.. I don't need the check engine light- just the rest of the stuff. I have all of the original clips and whatnot. Anybody know how to make this work?

Check out post 175 here https://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=94416.150 he is working with an early efi system but hopefully there will be something helpful for you.

I can say from my own experience, make sure to hookup the  VSS in your cluster and the brake signal to the ecu. Some info on that at post 107 https://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=101882.90

Awesome- thanks for the info @toyodaaddict I think one of those links will give me enough information to get the ignition cyl all wired up. Still not sure about the gauges though. I have lots of pics to post but my account is still too new  :smack:
