Im becoming an Importer- Gauging interest
« on: Jul 29, 2019, 02:14:39 PM »
hey all. some of you long time members know me and how i do business, some don't. but that's ok

Ive been in the automotive industry for 21 years now as a tech/builder/enthusiast
seems like in Australia they have access to parts for our vehicles that simply never made it to the states in large volumes.
i have an investor, and a long time friend that lives in Queensland Australia. he and I are proposing a business

were going to start filling shipping containers with desirable parts for Subaru, Toyota , Nissan, etc

we are in the research stage of this endeavor, which is where y'all come in (hopefully BigMike sees this )

what parts exist in that environment that do not exist here that you would like to buy
be as specific as possible, as my investor isn't as knowledgeable as i or you may be

hopefully this time next year we will be fulfilling orders

as big as we can be. were gearing towards engines, axles, trans, diesel swaps, etc. body panels will likely not survive a cross planet trip

they'd be RHD? unless you're talking about shipping the whole truck, that would be a fair bit of metal work and as a result not super desirable  :twocents:

I'd have suggested dash pads in good condition, but those guys make the passenger do all the driving :gap:

Rear halfs w/doors?

Badging would be another.
Pretty sure there are some different tail lights etc not available in NA.

like i said, bodies and body panels will be difficult initially, as container freight isnt what we would call delicate. but eventually full cars may be an option

It's not toy specific but right now you can't get the maxxis M-9060 Mud Trepador in the states.

The diesel motors, like the KZ engine, are always popular, the "utility" bed on later gen trucks (with the rolled side and attachment points) would probably sell.  Plus Landcruisers had a bunch of really cool options that were never here.

If you are doing diesel stuff I think there would also be a lot of interest in H-151f transmissions. I think they also bolt up to UZ motors. Which would be a great swap for the 80 series guys. You might get a better gauge on that over at MUD.

H151f does not bolt up to a UZ, its twice the size of an R series which also doesnt bolt up to a UZ.

Check were the parts are made before you ship them from OZ.  There are a lot of Transmission parts and controllers for Toyota Auto's that are sold in the OZ market, but are made in the US.   You can't buy them here and Manufacture says they don't exist.
