well let me start by saying that im both happy and excited about being back in a toyota again and looking fwd to building up my truck. i just bought this 1982 SR5 truck about 3 weeks ago. i bought is as you see in in the pics. so far ive had it on a few offroad trips. the truck has a rough country lift leafs on it and it rides like hell. i need to get that fixed so it will ride nicer and flex better. my overall goal is to build a capable truck to go enjoy the outdoors with here in colorado and go camping in. so far ive done a few regular maintenance things to it, and theres more to do as well. but im happy with the truck as the truck i feel is in fair shape for how old it is. its got some small rust areas and some surface rust but noting bad.

so my day job is that im a technician at the VW dealership here in good ol Grand Junction,CO. yes im into VW as a hobby as well. ive got a few (4 vws). but owning this toyota is a nice change and im really excited to work on it and build it into a nice truck. i will say that the 22R carb'd motor will not be enough for my future needs tho. ive been looking at motor swaps. i cant decide if i wanna do a toyota swap, or throw in a vwTDI motor. well enough about me...on to some pics.

the first 2 pics are of when i got it, the next 3 are after i gave it a good rub down. i hate chalky/ faded paint. the next ones are of my first little trail i did with it. the flex pic i threw in just to show how crappy the springs are. they wont even let the axels goto the bump stops.

Welcome!  Are the pictures overlooking Palisade, CO?  I lived in Rifle, CO, when I was little and had family in Palisade.

Get some 4.70:1 gears in your t-case, bob the bed, get a rear locker, and go wheeling in Moab.

yes this is overlooking Palisade. i actually was looking for a long bed as this will still be used as a truck. ill never bob the bed. future plans are install an e locker in the rear, maybe the front as well, 33's in the future, but i just bought 31's for now, hoping for the winter i can save up the needed funds and i like to get the TG basic front and rear suspension kits. im thinking 4" leafs. id like to regear the axles to 4:88's as well in the future.

ya i like ol' GJ but opportunity always seems to be lacking in this whole area. but i still prefer the western slope over the front range anyday.

Very nice rig!!! I'm looking for a similar truck, what is a good price to pay for one of these old Toyotas?

:welcome: She shined up real nice. Loved my time in Co, the trails are where I spent all my free time 'till I moved back to Commiefornia.  Injection would be nice at altitude.

well i could have gotten it cheaper, but i got turned on to the truck from a friend that knew i was looking for a 1st gen long bed, and he got me in touch with a friend of his that wasnt really selling it but as they say everything is for sale for the right price. i paid $2500 for my truck and i feel it was far. being that mine is an SR5, long bed, and very clean otherwise, i cant complain. good luck finding one.
