Help me Identify this Transfer Case
« on: Jul 04, 2016, 05:25:21 PM »
This transfer case came with a spare 22re and w56 trans that I got when I purchased a 85 4runner off a guy. The engine and transmission were bolted together when I got them but this transfer case was pulled off. He says it came off the same 85 4runner EFI the engine and transmission came from and it supposedly has lower gears in it. I haven't opened it yet but I noticed it's smooth and doesn't have a bearing retainer mounted on the front nor any threaded hole for one? Also I can pull on the shaft and it pulls out about 1/2 inch like in the picture, I don't think its supposed to do that and it doesn't look like anyone has opened it recently  Is this actually a gear driven top shift? Did it come off an early Toyota?

the "crawl box" housing looks to be an Advance Adapters extreme duty housing
