R150f only fourth gear works
« on: May 20, 2016, 10:06:23 PM »
Bought a 96 Tacoma with the 3.4l, the tranny only works in fourth gear. I've been trying to figure out what the issue is. Has anyone experienced this with the R150F?

It looks like everything grenaded? Was there any noise an slop when you spun the shaft? Mine sounds completely functional and solid, it just won't engage any gears.

It was fine until the clutch dump. Then it just made awesome grinding sounds when rolling in neutral. I put the tcase in neutral to get home. Then put it in low and 4th to get it up on the ramps to work on it.

I'm going to get it opened up Monday so we will see what the culprit is.

Either the input bearing has :pokinit: itself and jumped teeth and thus smashed itself apart or the input gears have sheared off and/or melted themselves flat, seen all three instances...

I heard back from the shop yesterday, the previous owner ran it with no oil. Everything was shot

Youd be surprised how often that happens
When the bearing collapsed in my g56 it howled its tits off....
All the way to the 'con and back then blew up in town
