Her boyfriend Bryan was also critical.

Seriously. Is she still in Florida and is it a law there?

I used to ride here in California and disliked the helmet law very much. That said I was happy to wear one. But for short trips to the grocery store or whatever I wished I didn't have to bother with it. But then you read about head injuries and man..... Glad I always wore mine law or no law.

She is in my prayers Glen, thank you for sharing.

In FL, helmets are not required.

That sucks really bad. Head injuries are no joke. I see them like crazy at the hospital I work at and how devistating they can be, even from a small fall. I hope they both recover well .

Dianes sister says its not looking good :(

Glen, I'm not on here much these days...

Man this sucks...I know a lot of people think it's a hassle to wear a helmet or it doesn't look cool. Wearing a helmet is a lot less hassle than this and much cooler as well.

This has always bothered me to no end.  I remember my dad riding without a helmet in california when I was little and it bothered me.  I used to be anti on bicycles but never without on a motorbike.  I've now hit my head twice on the street, once at a very high rate of speed and once while in first gear.  The first time I would have died, and had and still have semi-serious issues because of it, and the second time would've had serious head trauma had I not had on the helmet, despite still being in first gear.  And as for your short trip theory, I was a couple miles from home and had only ridden 80 feet away from a friend's house.

And while my group of mountain bike friends all wear helmets, I'm the only one who wears a full faced helmet 100% of the time.  It gets warm in the summer, but I can ride with greater confidence knowing I'm very well protected.

As Drew said, head injuries are no joke.
RIP KYOTA

Hope Diane and Bryan are ok!

with accidents, they say they usually happen within 25 miles of your house.... I have been in far too many accidents I care to recall, and most of them, were within that window....

I have some news but its not good.

QuoteI'm Bryan's daughter. Unfortunately, without her next of kin here, we have not been able to get much info for Diane. What we do know is Diane suffered severe head trauma and has had three surgeries to stop brain bleeds. She is not in good shape right now. Her family is in route to her and will notify friends when they can.

Such a sad day!  Diane was our friend, mother, sister, the sneaky devil and saint, she would listen and talk to you as a friend.  Like I posted on FB Glen, I have been missing her not being on here for along time now.  And now its even more so.

I have her last Roundup shirt, I sent her cheese and she sent me the shirt.  (on a side note, I have Dean's 4thewkn's last Roundup shirt too!!)

She was a true Marlin member.  Including posting her boobies covered with Marlin stickers!  And I can understand why she stepped away from Marlin, but she left ALOT of family when she did.  And now, she has really stepped away, and I will greatly miss her!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!
