Yeah, I knew there were plenty of places if it's not busy, but obviously that isn't going to be the case on Thursday night.  :(  Originally I was going to be coming in Tahoe side Wednesday afternoon and leaving late Sunday, so wasn't worried about finding parking nor about getting blocked in.  But now the plans have changed to arrive a day later and depart a day earlier so now I'm scrambling to figure it out because I've never been to the west side before.  TMI?  haha

I just scanned the road from Airport Flats to WWS using Google satellite view and found a couple of spots that look really good and a couple more that are maybes.

And Robert, I appreciate the offer, and maybe we can exchange numbers offline in case our arrival times match up, but at the moment I can't guarantee my arrival time will be anywhere near when I hope it to be.  I don't want to have anyone waiting for me if I happen to be broke down at Fordyce.

Not a problem, just pm me if our arrival times are similar. My groups heading in Thursday. Shooting for the morning but it may be early afternoon.

Have a good one,
Robert

Will there be any coverage for this roundup? I can't get there, but I'd be willing to chip in $5 for access to watch a decent, edited 2 hour video of it... I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be willing to pay $5... Heck, I'm sure some people would be willing to pay more...

Has anyone thought about doing that?

I'm not to sure on time, depends on what time my cousin shows up at my place. I want to be at loon early. If I see you can I tag along? First time on the Rubicon. I will be in a green 83 pickup.

Thank you for your awesome streak but I am sorry they will not be here this year. Next year I am planning on Online Registration form (*finally*) which will have more options including Helicopter rides. Then by the cut-off date we will relay the number of registered Helicopter riders, and if that number is high enough for the Helicopter group to financially afford servicing our event, then we'll know right there first week of August. Additionally by finally having a digital registration we can have time-of-day slots for scheduling helicopter rides. Worst case scenario, if the count is not high enough for them, then having a digital registration will make refunding of all paid Helicopter rides a piece of cake.

Sorry for the bad news. Next year things will be improved mostly thanks to a brand new website that I began building last October, more progress in April-May, and non-stop consistent long hourly nights since first week of July.

Regards,
BigMike

Had a great time at the round up! I did loose my wallet on the trail some where it's a camo check book style wallet if some one found it please keep all the cash inside as a reward and could mail it to me I'd really appreciate it.

I had an amazing time at the roundup.  I only had a minor problem.  An air line kinked and cracked and leaked.  We undid the compression fitting and cut the damaged part off but we couldn't reuse the ferrule which was now too small.  My friend wrapped a bunch of electrical tape around the end of the line and used it as the ferrule in the compression fitting.  It worked great.  Also, it was great to get a chance to talk to Marlin and Big Mike.  Winning a transmission rebuild for 50% off in the grand prize raffle was great fun as well.  I was talking to Marlin when they called my number.  I said "You'll have to excuse me Marlin, I just won!"

Someone came by our camp and asked if anyone lost a wallet! It was after the raffle and dark so I can't give you a description of her but I hope you get it back!
