Front axle help
« on: Apr 27, 2015, 07:59:15 PM »
So I know all this info is on here but I cant seem to find what I am looking for. Maybe you all can help me.
My runner is a 90% DD 6% weekend wheeler and 4% eye candy when I drive my truck. Now my question is my front axle is leaking  :yikes:  BAD  :yikes: It is leaking from the birf ball. So I know my axle seal is toast, but my question is what all should I replace while I am in there? I will be lincon locking the front (Hydro assist steering) and if I have the money Longfields. The bearings I will check when I pull the spindles. SOOOO I guess I am asking am I missing something? I will also be doing breaks while I am in there. What is the best up grade for the brakes? Larger master cylinder, IFS brakes? Sorry like I said I know all this info is on here just trying to get this all in one spot

I believe people like the v6 calipers, with fj60 rotors and Bigger master cylinder for brake upgrades.

The FJ-60 vented rotors are bolt on if you use the larger v-6 calipers. I used the FJ-80 master cylinder and booster. I can tell you that the dual diaphragm booster made the biggest difference. Follow the link in my signature for my front axle service write-up.

The only way i can get the seals out of my axle is to split the ring with a chisel.once you split it, grab it with pliers and pull it out.i tried with a slide hammer and other ways.if you burr the seat, just file it down and youre good.this is just what has worked for me.it sucks to tear it down twice, or in my case, 4 times in the past 2months.i like to learn thd hard way i guess
