NEED HELP REGARDING TOYOTA DIFFS
« on: Nov 16, 2014, 07:34:58 PM »
this is beyond my my field of expertise, just wondering if anyone here has ever replaced a bad toyota ring a pinion with another new set in the same ratio without changing the bearings or using an install kit?

the gears in my marlin rear V6 5.29 spooled diff :pokinit: the bed and i can get a decent priced set of sierra 5.29 V6 gears and dont really want to have the whole diff rebuilt or want to buy an install kit if just the gears are bad.

having my DD down is killing me, need some quick answers.

thanks guys!

I don't see an issue, as long as they are still in good condition.   But if you have chunks of metal floating around in the soup, they might have been damaged too!  Just good insurance that if your in there, why not.

Depends on how many miles is on the diff I suppose but all it would really take is to inspect the bearings closely for any gailing or cage damage from the failure.  Make sure to explain that when you take it somewhere to have done.  If they screw up taking the bearing off, you not have a choice and have to buy new bearings....which a minor install kit isn't THAT expensive.....
