New to the forum and Toyotas
« on: Mar 25, 2012, 10:47:04 PM »
Hey everyone,  My name is Joe and I live in the Bay Area.  I am new to wheeling and Toyota's,  I am also new to complete swaps.  I have never really done a complete swap with a different motor, only your average rebuilt 350 in a Chevy truck or older mustang stuff.
what I have is an 83 4x4 with stock running gear and a 6" lift on some worn out 33's .  I recently picked up a 94 2wd pickup with a 22re as the donor truck for a complete swap.  I Just finished pulling the motor out earlier tonight and I was able to salvage the entire wiring harness from front to back.
If there is anyone in my area that has done this swap, I would appreciate a little help.
To start with I think I am going to strip down the 22re and freshen it up.  The odometer says 260K but it looks to be a newer head so I might just pull it and do a quick inspection.  If it is shot then I will do a complete rebuild.  In the mean time I have been thinking about a few power upgrades for it, cam, headers, maybe a bigger throttle body.  The overall purpose of this build is to make a trail ready daily driver, something I can drive to work during the week and load it down with gear and go camping up in the mountains on the weekends.   My inspiration came when I was looking at Green Truck's build.  Greg did an amazing job.  I have 2 cases but no adapter yet so that is on my list as well as a few other things.
Thanks for reading and again if there is anyone in my area that has done this swap or has a a similar interest, don't hesitate to hit me up with suggestions or if you want to come over and have a beer and get your hands dirty,  my door is always open.

Dont know if you've finished this project, but TOY Connection in Santa Clara can rebuild your motor, plus they have lots of parts and know how as well.
