Fifth gear ratios on G54 tranys
« on: Feb 21, 2005, 05:13:48 PM »
Does anybody know if there are any other fifth gear ratios available for the G54 transmisions, the taller the better. Maybe like a .50 or so.

really don't think so.  why on earth would you want a .50 overdrive?  running 5.71s with 28" tires?

Nope, just a diesel engine that only turns maybe 3000 rpm red line. The sweet spot should be around 1200-1500 at 60 mph.

Bonus is that you don't need axle gears as deep with a diesel. So you can likely run those 3.73's and still wheel just fine.

Otherwise look at what the guy with the "Hulk" did on bc4x4.com

I got my manual today and it shows a .833 5th in the gas Z22 engine and .813 5th in the SD22 diesel engine. This is of course Nissan, but it shows what the ratio was it the truck the engine came out of.

I wounder if I can get gears cut to my specs? I think a 0.60  or 0.70 would be nice. Have to do some calculating to know for sure.  :dunno:
