Idk, whatever comes in a 87 pickup.... and I discovered when u put on my new slave cylinder yesterday that there is a boot beside it on the transmission, but the boot is not connected it is just kinda hanging there with an exposed hole... do u think I could literally have mud or gunk inside of my transmission??

that boot in the bellhousing? if its smoking from there thats your clutch... if your tranny is out of fluid your screwed theres plugs on the side of it and on the t case pull them and see if there is fluid in there

sounds like the clutch is GONE, and possibly a bent fork in the transmission.

if the clutch was gone i would think everygear would be hard to shift and the pedal fel wouldnt be right and it would run out of gear real fast the input seal may be leaking fluid on the clutch hence the smoke and the clutch will be gone in a matter of time

Well see I just ordered a clutch ans my slave cylinder has been leaking a long time so I put a new one on and gained a lot of my clutch back.. do yall think it is burned out? And if I did bend a fork how would I go about repairing that? How could I figure this out

2nd gear is one of the most common gears to loose the syncros on.  Also, does it do it all the time, or just when the truck is cold? If it goes away when the truck warms up (like my r150f) than just replace your gear lube with some synthetic.  From the sounds of it you should replace the fluid anyway, just to make sure there is enough in there.  Also, I destroyed a clutch by not having that rubber boot that overs the shifter for hole when mud got down int here and locked up the through out bearing. So I would replace that ASAP.

If you have smoke coming through the shifter boot it could be a number of things, but you should be able to identify it by the smell. If it is exhaust it will smell like exhaust, if it is clutch it will smell similar to hot brakes.

When a clutch wears out it should make it easier to shift since there is not enough friction between the clutch disk, the pressure plate and the fly wheel to transfer the power from the engine. When your clutch really starts to go away, you can push on the gas pedal and the RPMs go up, and you don't go any faster.
