How to make engine mounts for Drive train lift
« on: Dec 30, 2004, 09:58:13 PM »
Who's done a drivetrain lift and how did you make the motor mounts the back is easy I am wondering how to do the motor mounts. Should I cut them off and move them up or make a relocator plate for the engine block portion of the mount Help :flamer:  :twocents:  :turtle:

Leave them where they are.  Just loosen the nut on the engine side of the mount raise the t-case and tighten them back down.  Thats all I had to do and Im sure I raised the cases farther than most will.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

You can go flatbelly with out moving the engine mounts,,jsut used a few links of chain and weld it to the frame and to the metal plate that goes over the mount,,this will keep them for pulling apart,,3 links of large chain for each side worked for me..You will need to cut out the fan shroud a little for the fan..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

If you really want to move the mounts you could cut them off and put a piece of 2x2 inbetween them and the frame.  But keeping them there wouldn't hurt either.

Is there a reason the engine is supposed to be mounted at a 4 degree angled towards the rear  :headscratch:

I noticed that today while making my t-case cross member template, not the # of degree's but the angle of the tranny and engine. I thought a 2" body lift would give more room to lift the t case than it does. I geus I will probably still have to cut the floor board a bit  :flamer:
