LED Tail/Stop lamp failure
« on: May 12, 2011, 07:29:48 PM »
Would soldering on an extra length of wire to the T/S assembly cause the
LEDs to fail and not light up?

More info is needed.

First of all, how good are you at soldering?
Got a good clean ground?
What kind of LED setup you doing?

With LED's, sometimes you will need to use a resistor to make them work.  If your using a complete setup, that is a plug and play, check your wiring with a trouble light or volt/ohm meter.

Keep in mind, LED's must be soldered in only one way to work.  It's a light emitting diode - the key word here is diode.  If you get it in backwards, it won't work.

This is a sealed combo tail/stop light flange mounted assembly. I have a good ground and
all the circuits test good with the volt meter to where the wires hook up.  But I am getting
nothing from the ground wire coming out of the unit when I check it there.  I hooked everything
up according to the diagram supplied with the lights. I hooked up an old bulb unit that I have
and it worked fine.

swap the positve and negative inputs and see if the led unit works
