HUGE THANKS TO MARLIN --- SAVED THE DAY!
« on: Sep 16, 2009, 12:37:50 PM »
Marlin -

Thank you!  Thank you!  I am completely blown away by how you helped us.  We drove down for the Rubicon event (first time) from Portland, OR.  It was a 13 hour drive.  My rear axle seal started leaking on the trail.  No one could help us (or even offered to help).  We pushed on and made it to the campsite.  The next morning I asked if Marlin had an axle seal.  He rummaged through his supplies and found a seal.  But...  Then he insisted to see the truck.  He left everyone just to look at my rig.  He knew the wheel bearing had gone bad.

Marlin brought my truck into their campsite.  He helped pull apart the axle and discovered the bearing was bad.  He found a bearing and proceeded to remove the bad one and replace it.  We got it all put back together and it was perfect.  I drove the truck back to Portland without any issues.

Marlin wouldn't accept any payment for his help.  I figured I could at least buy the parts.  I called Marlin Crawler today and requested to purchase the parts and give them to Marlin.  I was put on hold for several minutes.  Then received word that Marlin wouldn't accept it.

All I can say is thank you!  I've bought many parts for you in the past but never realized your commitment and support for the Toyota community.  This completely sets your company apart from any low cost parts supplier.  I recommend you 100%.  Anyone thinking about buying parts need to support Marlin.

Huge Blessings & Success!

Impressed, but not surprised 1 bit.  Its all the stories like this that keep me buying parts from Marlin whenever i get a chance, as well as following his model of helpfulness when out on the trail.

I think I saw you guys working on that axle when we walked through Marlin's camp. I recall seeing Marlin setting the bearing lock ring with a punch and hammer. Of course, I wasn't at all surprised in the least to see Marlin in that all too familiar setting.

That's great that you made it home safely and without further issue.

I recently got to know Marlin a little bit better and all I can say is that he, along with his business, is a CLASS ACT!I can't find the words to express how humbled and impressed I was with his knowledge, attitude, genuine concern, and kind heart. Even my 10 year old daughter talked about him for days following out time with him. Thanks Marlin - hope to see you again real soon!

He is the man!  He goes above and beyond what any company owner will ever do personally.

Just think about it for a moment.  This last weekend is his birthday bash on the Rubicon.  And he probably spendt most of it wrenching on other peoples rigs for FREE!!  Just because you and him share the love of this sport/hobby.

He has almost missed his b day dinner before at other MCR's working on rigs for people.  He and his family are awesome.  You could never find another company that do things like this for their customers and non customers.  Class Act and one to be followed if possible.

I don't think I have ever heard of another company with the kind of dedication and service that Marlin offers everyday.  I will go out of my way to purchase from Marlin Crawler. :twocents:

I emailed a link of this thread to my cousin who is trying to decide between Marlin and Allpro for the suspension on his 80.  I told him the choice is clear Join the brotherhood of the turtle!

My experience with Marlin is that he just does what needs to be done, doesn't hesitate and certainly won't take anything for it. He's not looking for the glory, but just wants to help everyone have a good time. He is an excellent role model for all our new 4wheelers who are learning the sport/hobby. It is his quiet, class act that has made him so successful.

Stop and help others on the trail, and never leave someone stuck.

I've always tired to get what ever I need from MC. Then back in 2003ish I had the splines on the coupler to my MC dual case and my input shaft on my t-case wear down so they didn't grab at all. I called up MC to order a new coupler and talked to costumer service for a while. He did mention that it was about the most expensive part in the case, about $150. After a while he said he was going to go talk to Marlin to see about cutting the price down some for me even though my case was about 2 years out of warranty. I thought that was really cool of him. When he returned he just said that I should be receiving a new one in the mail in a couple days.

Since that day I decided that I would be willing to wait for something on backorder from MC then to get it from All Pro or even drive 20 minute to Inchworm. Even if it happens to be the same exact product.

As far as I’m concerned there is no other companies out there. I'm in the brotherhood of the turtle for life.
