i have just boughta 1988 ford ranger 4x4, it has a v6 and its a stick shift, im wanting to build a truck that i can go on trails with and still drive down the road looking for ideas

depends what you want to do to it....

scrap the d28 you have, and sas it (narrowed d44 works well) or get a ford explorer d35, then get an 95+ explorer rear axle

atlas makes a good tcase for it

check out the tranny, might upgrade its plugs if its the mazda tranny

engine is underpowered, but they are pretty bombproof

so its got teh 2.9 in it? the 2.9 in my 89 ranger will kick the piss out of any 3.0 toyota v6 iv ever seen.

but like jimbo said, scrap the front d28 if you can, its very very weak. swap in the front off an 90's explorer its a bit stronger or if you can even better go for a narrowed 44 from an early bronco with coil setup on it already. very near to bolt in.

i will try and get pics when i go finsh my moms jeep and the truck is a flat bed will i have a problem with tire rub on the bottom of the bed and im looking to put 33s or maybe even 35s under it
