nope i did not sand or prep. all i did was tape off everything i did not want painted  and sprayed 'er down. it has chipped threw a lil bit but not as much as i thought it would.  nothing over a dime sized chip has shown threw. the truck cab and fenders were green and blue, ya know green fenders blue door green hood blue cab.. the old bed was green the 1st gen bed with the rails and the 2nd gen bed was red and black. don't know if the darker colors help any. i'm not sure how much paint i had to get to paint it all i would say 6 to 8 cans, my wife  aka MPA says she thinks it was around 8 cans. i just keep a couple around in case i need to touch some stuff. which has not happened yet.  good luck

Brian  for regular wheeling 2.28 x 2.28  is perfect  i often run lo lo and 3rd gear

2.28 and 4.7 is only good for real deal rock crawlin in my opinion

im running 2.88 duals with stock 4.10s with 37s and i have no problem with rock crawling i feel like its as low as i need, it makes it more realistic in my opinion instead of just throwing in it ultra low and letting the truck idle through the heard spots you still will need to work the gas a bit. don't get my wrong there are a few times when it would be nice to have, but keyword is 'few times' and 'nice'.

I've got 2.28s and 4.88s...99.69:1. I've noticed a few times when i'd have liked to be lower, but its great. go stock first, then later if you need them, do the 4.7s.

that bracket your hand is on needs to go, just make sure you put some washers under the bolts so it doesnt leak

UPDATE:  We ended up selling The Big Tan Man this past Saturday.  We got tired of it sitting around 99.9% of the time, it was WAY illegal here in PA with our ridiculous lift laws.  So we decided to bite the bullet, go ahead and sell him and start over with a newer one that we could keep street legal this time.  We lucked into a pretty killer deal on a different truck and we're pretty excited!
