depends on where you are at. if in CA they require some stuff like: the new engine has to be from the same year or newer vehicle, pass SMOG (i believe as it would in the vehicle the engine came from), and a couple other things...thats waht i can think of off the top of my head now.

Dude, you live in California!!  Your best bet would be to either live with the 22r, or just go buy a GM 4x4 with a 350!!  The headache you will go through to get that truck to pass, will be a nightmare.   :scared:

If your really serious about putting a 350 into a Toyota, would be to find a Toyota diesel p/u.  That would be a rare find first of all, and secondly diesels don't have to smog, so you basically can put whatever motor in you want.  I've got friends that have put v8's into Toyota's and regret ever doing it.  (I live in Oregon, don't no smog)

it isn't that bad. You have to use an engine the same year or newer than your tuck, and it has to smog. You must use ALL of the smog equipment from the other truck and go to the referee and get it signed off. You will then legally have a 85 toyota with a 350.

please search...there is a ton of info on this.
