Driveshaft mods for 5"SAS?
« on: Aug 28, 2008, 10:31:53 AM »
What kind of driveshaft work am I going to need when I do my 884runner 5" TG SAS? I dont have gears yet for the front and im not going to have 4wd for a little bit. I saw a kit. Is that for people doing it themselves? Are there any good cheap tricks for the front? I am going to find out what i need when I get to it but am looking for an Idea of what to expect. sorry for the newbie question but I am.

your going to need a long travel spline front driveshaft.  You can buy a spline kit from marlin and have it welded to your stock tube or have a complete custom front shaft made.  The stock rear should be fine without mods.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

You could always make the front DL out of square tubing as well, its really easy and cheap!
Otherwise buy marlins long slip or have high angle DL make a set for you!
