Turbo mounting options.
« on: Apr 03, 2013, 05:37:11 PM »
I have seen some pictures online and I notice the Turbos on some of the vehicles are much higher on the engine than my stock mounted Turbo. What does this help and where can I get this? Also, would it be good for me to run a inter cooler with my motor? Thank you.

placement on the turbo doesn't matter that much. and running a charged air cooler(intercooler) will help with power since you will be lowering the intake air temps yes the intake air gets pretty hot once it gets through the filter and through the turbo

Just guessing...All of the stock turbo exaust manifolds are cracked between number two and three or the elbow for the internal waste gate is toast. Your option is a t3/t4 Garrett with aftermarket manifold. Sorry to say, Toyota no longer services parts for the early 22re turbo trucks. There isn't much room for aftermarket stuff on the side of your engine. LC Engeneering has all the stuff your looking for, if that's what you need... (good luck)  Bob.

Unless your running more than 10lbs of boost there is no reason to have an inter cooler. I got my manifold off ebay ,but I don't see them up for sale any more. Steedspeed makes a nice piece but it's pricey as is the LC one. Get on 22rtetrucks.com lots of good info as well as good people to help you out.

Placement of the turbo doesn't matter that true just for looks....steeds manifold puts the turbo flipped up which requires a little tinkering to get it all to fit....lc engineerings  mani keeps it down which is what iI prefer I own a r te I've got a garret t3 tec turbo with internal wwaste gate do in between.  15 and 18psi the intercooler is def a way to go but like stated really only needed if runninI 8 or more psi anything over that the motor will get hot your mani will crack and cause havoc....as for tToyota doesn't make parts they do cause I often hit up my Toyota dealer for small items just very expensive like said before WWW.22rte-trucks.com is where u wanna go for any questions you have anything u need an answer to will be answered there

Do you have a picture or a parts list of the complete air intake for the 22RTE? I think I am missing something on mine, but I don't know what it is. Thank you.
