« on: Mar 23, 2008, 05:18:34 PM »
Me and a buddy just did a front main seal in his 87 yota (carb) and we got it all put back together and when we started his truck it sounded like a bunch if crickets under his hood. he drove it like that around the block and brought it back to my house and shut the truck off. then we tryed looseing the belts to get rid of the cricket noise. and now the truck wont even turn over! what should we do???

are you saying that the starter will not spin the crankshaft at all? sounds like something was not getting any oil, and seized up. I would guess the camshaft bearings. :sad2:

Take all of the belts off the front of the engine and see if you can turn the crank at all with the crankshaft pulley bolt (long breaker bar and 6 point socket). If you can't, then, yes, something seized.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.
