I would only run an ARB or e-locker...both are equally strong

e lockers are sweet. But a soft locker in the front works good. My e lockers are perfect but when locked it will barely turn.

If $$ are not an issue, I would (and currently have) ARB's front and rear. It's a very sweet set-up, and gives you the flexiblity to lock/unlock whenever you want/need.

Lunch-box lockers I understand do pretty well, and are relativley cheap, and fairly easy to install. I have not heard of any reliability issues.

If your driving in any kind of snow, you do not really want a Lincoln locker, 'cause you'll loose traction in any kind of turn. It will also chirp going around corners. Personally (Not that anyone really cares), I think its a bad idea to weld the spiders, but that's just my opinion. I know lots of people who do it and are very happy.

Does welding the third cause any vibration or other issues on a DD truck? Like on the freeway. I just think it would be out of balance.

Will increase your tire wear, unless it's on the front but i've never talked to anyone with a welded front on a dd. Would assume it wouldn't change anything unless your hubs were locked in.  :twocents:

I had a ī84 single cab that was weldet up front. Ditnīt give me any trouble if I had the mmmm passenger side hub unlocked  and the other one locked (or might have been the other way around) when I had it that way and in 4wd it always grabed the steering a litle to the left, I got used to it I ditnīt have any option back then and I guess I learned to live with it. but if I had it with both hubs off or not in 4wd I was doing just fine.

that truck had a weldet front and a detroid or something like that, 22r carbed. in the rear and with 36" ground hawgs... damn that truck worked well,

most people dont drive on the street with 4wd though.......

I have seen a few welded fronts on the trail...can kill ya on sidehills sometimes if ya start slipping....also, it gets lame waiting behind a welded truck on tight trails cuz they make like 50 point turns.. just my experience

a tru trac is NOT a locker, it's a limited slip....don't waste your money get an aussie or a detroit full carrier replacement.

Put a spool in the front and either an ARB or an Elocker in the rear. The selectable in the rear will help with turning on the trail and will keep down tire wear on the asphalt.    :twocents:

a spool is a full possy part no ?'s about it. even with your hubs unlocked it will still be locked so it wont well at all u wana run an arb up front and rear if your made of money. if not detroit in the rear and arb front. still expensive either way..

no dude a posi unit isnt anything like a spool.
thats a spool it has no clutches or gears that lock anything.

unlike a posi unit that does have gear and clutches

with the hubs unlocked you wont have any problems turning or whatever

i undestand with the hubs unlocked you be fine but what about when they are locked and you are on the trail and you have to make some tight turnsit aint g2 happen. unless you have full hydro or ram assist wouldnt it be hard????????maybe you might be right tho. are you open open or locked??

its hard when my arb is locked but not impossible especially if i can get the tires moving. i wouldnt want to run anything else other than the arb because i live in the snow and i need an open front end

few years ago I e-mailed this group down in ausie land, they can either set up the 3rd for vaccuum activated or cable supposively. I was waiting for the cable but they were still working on a few parts. Cool thing is that there is no modification needed for the housing and it runs off the vaccuum your motor already provides. down side, cost, they are up there with ARB's. Closest dealer is in SLC. Just food for thought...
