Don't Sweat the Small Stuff
« on: Oct 04, 2010, 12:01:31 PM »
My wife and I were reading a book the other evening and found an entertaining quote.  The book is called Don't Sweat the Small Stuff and is the "best" taken from a series of books on the topic.  This particular chapter was about not worrying about the future and living in the present.

"I've gone through a lot of terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened." - Paraphrase of an unknown author (I can't remember the name, possibly Mark Twain.

The obvious point being that we often worry about things that never happen.

I never been a worrier. On occasion I am concerned, but worry is a complete waste of energy.

Remember Y2K?

If you worry about something that happens...the worrying was a waste. If you worry about something and it doesn't happen...the worrying was a waste.

Prepare for likely occurrences and there's no need to worry.

C'mon Zombies...I'm not worried, I'm ready!

I'm sure that some people will worry about when the new date will come or maybe they'll worry about not having anything to worry about  :dunno:

I try not to sweat.  It is a complete waste of heat....  And with global warming on the rise!!!!  I just can't contribute to that  madness.

Y2K was supposed to bring everything to a grinding halt. Never quite materialized...

There was a true believer who bought a remote property not far from here and stocked it with bags of rice, beans, & other supplies. I guess he figured Y2K was gonna knock out civilized society as we know it, including all bank records, and he wouldn't have to pay his mortgage. When nothing happened, he had to sell the place... apparently he had no way to make payments.
My goal in life is to be as a good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

If you don't learn something every day, you're not paying attention.
