« on: Aug 13, 2007, 04:06:37 PM »
what trannys do most people with 1st gens run? ive read all about the R series but can 1st gens run those? i currently have a L series 5 speed. should i just rebuild it or go with a different series? im also having problems with my front drive shaft angle so was gonna run a longer tranny to help with this problem. would it be worth it to get a longer tranny or just go double transfer case instead? i guess im wondering what the best setup for the drive train would be and where i can get a decent driveshaft that wont snap! geez! im on #3
rebuilt 22R, downey header long tubes, 2.5" exhaust, 4 inch marlin lift with 3 inch shackles, detriot locker, 4.88's on 33's.marlin cross over steering and fror crossmember, power steering conversion, chromoly 30 spline bobby longs, 86+ wider rear axle, 12 inch 5150's all around, fully gusseted with armor...soon to be sitting on 35 bfg MT with an all pro roll cage and rock lights!

I run a W56 with 2 t cases. = no more driveline problems for my full bodied 1st gen truck.

Best setup depends on what you want to do.

In my 80 I have an L 50 and dual cases, with a 3" spring, I have no driveshaft issues.
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.
