IMHO, locking the front will HELP the longevity of the drivetrain by minimizing the wheel speed when the tire lifts off the ground (which is common due to the lack of downtravel) and allowing you to crawl obstacles instead of using momentum.

I would not weld it though - one it won't turn, and two you'll go through steering components in a HURRY. I have ARB in the front, and I still kill power steering pumps.

ya im gonna probly sas it for my seinor project. but my ifs will work for now. dose welding your rearend affect street driving a lot? was your truck that you welded a dd muddaddict?

ya i dd for a while its mainly to and from trails now but i still drive it! the only bad thing is the chirpping around corners but you can get away wiuth that byu just going slow! it will wear tires pretty quick though another downfall if you dd it but its cheap and if you weld it good reliable and works like a charm! i have my elocker set on all the time so its more or less jsut like its welded and it SUCKS to turn i wish i could disengage it so i would not rec welding the front it sucks to turn its much easier when the front open to turn!

I would go with a sas because on my 884runner i had a6inch ifs lift when i bought it in 2003 and kept killing my torsion mounts so i got mad and took out my plasma cutter and i like the look and ride from my sas swap. hopefully this helps
