22re on last leg
« on: Jul 13, 2007, 10:54:19 PM »
well comming home from the bar, i'm smelling antifreeze more then i usualy do.. parked and popped the hood and smoke everywhere, whole back of the engine is wet along with other parts below. i take it my headgasket fully went..though it still drive and everything.

so what do you guys think would be he cheaper engine conversion
chevy 4.3 or a toyota 2.7

either wway i'm going to have to get a new transmission

i know i could probly get a whole 4.3 donar vehicle running for 500 to 1500 depending on what version 4.3 i want...but time the adapters adds up i'm sure it'll be close to another 1500.

as for the 2.7 i know i couldmost likely find and engine for 800..have no clue how much this will set me back..?

but anyways its late and i'm tired..just want some opinions on the subject..

i just dont want to rebuild the top end just to have a dog of an engine back..sure it'll cost around 1200.. that and i belive my transmission is also going out, as it kicks out of gear when full throttle.

X2

It cost me less that $200 to replace mine with 2 bad motors used to make 1 ok motor.

Are you sure it is the head gasket and not one of the other water connections at the back of the block?

it could be possible guess i'll have to go and take a better look,i just figured the Hg went as i knew it was already slightly leaking for a year or so.
but where exactly are these water connections?

If the oil looks like a milkshake then its a good indication the head gasket blew.  Also try looking under the oil cap.

There is a coolant routing panel on the back of the head that I would check too for leaks.

dude,  your in PA  why  order a  rebuilt  motor  from California  when you could get the same thing  from your local NAPA  or TOYOTA dealer :dunno:

if  you want a performance motor, try D.O.A. they are on the east coast   so shipping wont eat you alive
