carb for 81 Toyota 22R
« on: Jun 25, 2007, 06:31:59 AM »
I am looking for a stock carb for my 81 Toy. A clean parts carb, a running carb, whatever is easiest, best to do.
Thanks
Danny

Is it just the top piece you looking for? None of mine are from running vehicles and have been sitting for some time. Parts are ok but would need work to rebuild. I have 3 22r carbs. One has been taken apart, the other two are together with some small stuff scavenged off them. If you have a pic of the exact piece you need I can look closely at what I have to see if they match since they all have some variations of the little gizmos that came on them. Hopefully I have the one you're looking for. Be glad to help if I could.

I have a couple of complete ones that were from running vehicles but have been sitting.  They are complete though.  $25 plus the USPS flat rate box ($8.XX, I think.)

I would prefer a whole carb, the one I have was full of rat poop. Who knows what it would take to get it servicable.
Do you have pictures you could send me so I can see the port orientation?

You could even try taking the carb apart. Even if you're a little apprehensive about doing so, it's not like you've lost anything if you don't get it back together, right? Maybe just clean it out and unstick a few things is all it'll take. What have you got to lose? A carb kit should be between 20-30 bucks.

I am not askeered of carbs:inthedark: , except for this one!
It is toast from years of rat excrement going into it:puke: I did take the top off and saw it was gooped beyond all help!  :yikes:
Heck, when I started working on autos, carbs was the main option.
Anyway, that's where it is at.
The mains are all plugged and so is the enrichment valve.
Beyond repair, replacement times ahead.

Yuk!  :puke: Too bad it's in such shape. Not to mention, too bad we're like 5-6 hours apart to make any help more practical as well. Have you got any pics of the vac connections of the carb yet?

I'll find out after dinner
Carbs are not interchangeable :rivers:
The base will not fit on the carb. There is a casting that prevents this. I think it is for the metering jet. The jets sit differently from year to year. :shudder:
