If you want the extra width go for it but you'll have to sink a boat load of money to get the axles up to snuff. Go Toyota axles with 30 spline Longs and forget it.
yeah pretty much the SAS is pretty easy. I did mine in 5.5 hrs. I did it and am glad I did. IFS sucked. Especailly going from a SA truck to an IFS truck.Id go full widths axles. I hate my toyota axles. I want to do a D44 and 14B in mine. What axles are they. 10B front and 12B rear?
Damn you must be the fastest swapper alive. 5 1/2 hours doesnt leave much time for fitting/measuring. You must have ripped it off and tacked it all up with speedy gonzales quickness. Seriously to those of us that take our time it ussaully uses up about a week for removal of the IFS and install of the SA.
it doesnt matter if he had prep work done before hand or friends helping. if it rolled in ifs and rolled out sa in 5 1/2 hours then it took 5 1/2 hours.
Nonethe less Oldyeller, if this is going to be your first time ussing a torch or welder it might take sometime, As far as specs go it all depends on what you using. Between Here, Pirate, and TTORA you should be able to find everything you'll ever need to know under a simple search.
OYCJ, mabye I'll come give you a hand for a weekend (if I can sleep in the runner? ) I wouldn't mind helpin out with a SA for practice when I do mine
you got it bud its not that I cant figure it out but I was JK but if ya wanna come up I can put ya up fer the weekend in the cave (garage) no dont knock it till ya see it
If nothing else, I'll just help Minisimp point out what you're doing wrong
ya um i helped do this sas. there was like 4 guys there, 2 of them already sas'd there own trucks. and the axle was sitting ready to go with the steering and leafs all on it. it was basically a bolt up job minus cutting the crap up. 5.5hrs believe it. in my driveway. minus no shock hoops or shocks but thats it.
