tare it apart and find out, get a rebuild kit and replace everything.  thats the only way to find out what is clicking.

An easy way to narrow it down to the trunion bearings is to remove the tie rods from the knuckles and see if it still does it, then you will only have one option left.  If I am understanding you right this is just moving the tire back and fourth at a stand still?
Retiring the 91
Rebuilding the 94

yeah but think about when you turn your wheel what that birfield is doing, if it is broke then it could grind on the shattered pieces inside the knuckle it doesn't necessarily have to have them spinning inside the housing.  You should know if it's a trunion bearing when your driving it'll have slop in the steering and the wheel would have play in it.  maybe the bearings are dry that would cause some noise. just my  :twocents:  keep us posted though

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the wheel bearings either.  Either shot or improper tension for some reason.   I second what Hyena said, tear it all apart and get a rebuild kit.  :yesnod:  especially if you don't know when the last time the knuckles were serviced.   :twocents:

good luck.  keep us posted.

i put the axle under the truck last memorial day, like 9 months ago...i rebuilt the whole axle myself, i know when it was done n that it was done right, i used a manual, fish scale, the whole deal and a new rebuild kit from marlin...i've driven a truck w/ a broken birf before, mine def isnt broke...this sittin n waitin for the cars to get th hell out of the shop so i can get it apart is killin me...

im gonna say 90% chance its the upper trunion bearing having no grease in it....i filled the knuckle until the grease gun i was usin, ran out of grease...so i dunno it its full or not...im hopin thats all it is, cuz i wont have the time or $ to get a whole rebuild kit, i CAN get bearings, n seals n that through work(napa)....thanks for the advice anyways guys....

you put it together right but you didnt pack the trunion bearings with grease when you put it together?
you need to manually pack those bearings, either by hand or using a bearing packer.

derek
