clutch question
« on: Nov 06, 2006, 04:12:38 PM »
i just put a new clutch in the runner and everything was fine, then went wheelin 3 days later. got back and now clutch slips, under load, mostly in 2nd gear, but its fine in first. it doesnt slip at all if im easy on it, but if i mash the pedal then it will. i was stuck in  mud and water up to the bottom of my seat for about 20 mins. while wheelin. i think i let  some mud and water in the bell housing causin my problem, if so, is there any way to drain it without drilling a hole or pulling the trans. or if u dont think this is my problem, any ideas wuold help, thanks.

um you know you are supposed to break in a new clutch right? like not drive all crazy fro at least 500 miles or so? sounds liek you glazed the mating surfaces

there are already drainage holes in the bottom of the bellhousing....

how 's adjustment at the pedal ?  i ve seen people back out the rod so much that they re riding on the clutch.
it would be ok at first til it got hot then it start to slip .   check make sure there are some free play in the clutch pedal .

haha, the ole auto-crap clutch. i helped a guy put one in an 84. it lasted only a few trips out. the clutch disk broke around the tranny shaft and left him absolutely stranded
