83P/U on 87 4Runner frame
« on: Oct 16, 2006, 04:05:39 PM »
Hello everybody.  I  have been lurking around this board for a while now and thought that I would throw my junk up on here.  Its a 1983 toy P'U on a 1987 4runner frame.  Had to do this since the rear of my frame was rusted so bad you could poke your finger through it. So it started, and the list goes like this:

TG 5" kit ( sorry marlin you don't have Canadian Distributor)
5:29 gears
Assie rear
Trutrac front
RCI 19gal aluminum fuel cell
Comp cam
Hooker header 2" exhaust
Warn 8274
ect ect

I want to put in a Marlin doulber but I have a few Q?  As I understand it I have a top load T case as it is right now, correct?  In the marlin online instructions it says that I need a donor case that will bolt up to my existing Tranny.  So I need a top shifting T case for a donor, Correct ? After these Q? are answered I can put in my order.

Thanks GuysNGals,
and hello from Alberta Canada

What tranny are u running?   If you have a spare top shift case to use behind your exhisting case you will be in good shape.  :welcome:

Cool looking truck man
There is a fine line between clever and stupid, I just wish I knew when I crossed it.

Cool looking truck man

Thanks,

It has been a long time building it.  From a bare frame to this, it has taken about 6 months.  Anyway got my dual adapter ordered today.  Back to the garage for me I have a Marlin Ceramic clutch to put in, got it from a guy from my local club.

So I received my MC07, (very nice) and I got my donor case torn down.  Put the 37 tooth (2:28) gear on slid it into my adaptor, checked my clearances there good.  Here is my Question.  I know that I have to weld the piece of keystock on the one shift fork, WTF do I do with the second shift fork?  Its a top shift Tcase mating to a top shift Tcase if that helps.  Thanks for the help all

Now that you are using it for hi and low range only, and the rear half (2wd-4wd) of the case is gone, the 2nd shift rail is no longer of use. You could make it into a cool pice of melted metal if ya want. :hammer:
