1984 ickup frame vs 1985 IFS 4runner frame
« on: May 31, 2007, 05:19:51 PM »
I have a IFS 1985 4runner with a perfect frame that I bought for parts. The frame on my 84 solid axle pickup isn't the greatest. My question is, are the frame the same or alot different. I know that the IFS would have to go but what about the back of the frame. could i cut the back off and weld it to the front half of my pick up. I'm probably way off the map but I just thought I'd ask
Thanks

the solid axle frames have more arch in the front wheelwell area....

you could essentially do an SAS swap to the ifs frame....

the ifs didnt come out until the 86 model year, 85 trucks/4runners had a solid front axle

he  has  a 86 model  that was sold early  as a 85

if  the 85/86  was a pickup i would  say  go for it,  but  if you decide  to do it i say  just chop the rear frame  off  at the back of the cab  or  in front of  the  rust,   but make sure  you  dont just wack it off  cut it  like this
