hy-pinion or v-6 front end? Pro's and cons?
« on: Jul 19, 2005, 07:08:40 PM »
Have an 85 yota.  In the market for a front third with 5.29 and arb.  Which gears are more durable.  Are the bearing sizes the same?  Is the hy-pinion as strong as the v-6 rear third?  What do you suggest? Thanks!

If you are going forward then the hi pinion is stronger but if you get a front tire wedged and you need to use reverse to get out then the V6 3rd would be stronger in that instance.  I run a hi pinion and I dont wedge my junk so I dont ever worry about it. ;)
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
