Who has one?  What kind?  I can't decide on the full width bolt down(permanent) or the the removable like a Rigid.

I have a Betterbuilt diamond plated box in mine.  They don't have the same dimensions as mine, but I have had mine for over 20 years.  Mine fits perfectly between the wheel wells, and the front of the box.  So well, I don't need to bolt it down.  It was a miss order when I worked at the tire shop, and I got it at cost.  But I had a 85 Nissan LB, so I had to strap it in to the tie downs.  Because I didn't want to bolt it in place.  Here is a link to what I have.

i like the idea of below the bed rail and I want it to open that way.  Not gullwing style.

My main issue with the bed box is losing bed space for lumber.  I don't really want a rack.  Good ones are big $.

You have other options as well, side mount, wheel well, and sliding drawer boxes, both full bed or wheel well mounted.

I could go for a side box.  It has to fit one of my chainsaws at least then my hand tools and recovery equipment.  Right now everything is in the Xcab of my truck.

I also saw and thought about a "shelving system" that goes in the Xcab space.  Maybe on one of the Expo websites...FrontRunner?

They make some large side boxes that sit above the bed rail that should hold a chainsaw easily enough.  Another option would be to just mount a chainsaw mount on the top of a standard bed side box, if you mainly just take the saw with you when wheeling.

The one downside to shelves in the x-cab, is that nothing is secure, and anything with mass in an accident or rollover/flop, can become projectiles.

If you only haul lumber occasionally, another option would be to run a large storage box, and run one of the temporary/quick set-up lumber/ladder racks.

Good thought snowtoy on the loose equipment.
