Hi everyone.

I know this is primary a 4x4 rig site, but I know this is the place for Toyota differential stuff.
My name is Chris and I have a boosted Tacoma 2RZ 5 lug and I keep snapping the 7.5's when dead hooked..

So I did a little research and found a nice 1991 G code 8" V6 2wd rear end to build up..
I'd like to find some good used 3.58's and stuff a Detroit Truetrac in it.

I wasn't sure if the Truetrac would hold up to dead hook abuse.    near/around the 300whp area...  (much more soon)

My wife drives the truck once and a while and she's hated the Lockrite in there when going around corners..   lol
Thats why I'm thinking of the Detroit Truetrac for its stock like feel from what I've read/heard.

I would use either the tru-trac or maybe a toyota e-locker out of a 4runner or tacoma. The e-locker is selectable so you can have an open diff or a spool depending on what you are doing at the flip of a switch. They come up for sale here and go for $400 to $500.  You should be able to use it in that rear end if it's the same stuff as the 4WD V6 8".  Also get a solid spacer sleeve to replace the crush sleeve between the pinion bearings if you can.

Check out Zuk's site and study it for a while...

if you dont mind swapping over... an 8.8 from an explorer is almost a dead swap for these trucks... spring under, 31 spline, and available in limited slip.... not to mention tons of aftermarket support also
Those are some huge welds!

The 8.8 it a couple of inches wider, I needed a narrower rear end to tuck the wheel/tire combo..
I would have gone this route, but I've owned 3 Explorers and they all had rear end issues and I'm a little bitter..

I'll have some 17x9's out back with some sticky 285 tires..
Then some 15's with drag slicks for track abuse..  I'm thinkin Weld Pro stars..      Always been a fave..

It'll be forward 4-linked within a month or so on QA1 coilovers..
