Truck dies
« on: Oct 20, 2011, 04:06:52 PM »
I have a 1988 22re that has been giving me some problems lately. After the truck warms up it will die as soon as I take my foot of the accelerator. I can hear the circuit open relay click when it shuts off. If I step on the accelerator quickly it will click again and continue to run. The truck idles fine when cold. Any ideas on where to start.

My ignition coil, circuit open relay, and TPS all tested good. AFM tested bad so I replaced it with one I had laying around, but the truck still wouldn't run when coming off the accelerator. I noticed that it was missing the VTV replaced it and bumped the throttle up a bit. Seems to be running great now.
