Tachometer not reading properly
« on: Mar 29, 2011, 10:24:48 AM »
On a recent trip to the smog station, I noticed a discrepancy between the RPM's that my tach read and what the dyno read. It was fairly substantial, like my tach said around 900 and the dyno said 650. So I checked it afterwards with a meter and it read close to what the dyno said, so I am assuming it's my tach that is off. Has anyone else experienced this and repaired it?
Supposedly there is some type of resistor that reduces the voltage going into the gauges from 12 volt to something lower like 6 or 4. Could this resistor going bad be the cause?
Electrical is definitely not my forte, so bear with me.

It's possible I suppose. It was stock as a rock when I bought it. I guess I can check and see with a meter on 6 cylinder mode if it read the same as my tach  :dunno:

Are there any visible differences between 4cyl/6cyl dashes in 2nd gen runners?
