Yjay's 2nd gen 4runner
« on: Mar 18, 2009, 06:27:05 PM »
My new ride. 91 22re 4runner, clean as a whistle stripped except for a/c. Just dealer serviced. Can't wait to gas axe the ifs off and listen to the sweet noise of it hitting my garage floor.

Looking for an axle, may have a line on one. I really should off the jeep b4 I get too wild on spending. This may be a dumb question, but do 4 banger runners have v6 thirds in the rear?

Just cleaning and pulling out foul wiring. Pulled my amp and sub out of the jeep and put them in. I want to run rf1a cases, is it better to swap the tranny, or use an adapter and keep the tranny? Pro's and con's? Tranny options? It's a 5 speed. Cost is a consideration.

i didnt know they made a g-58 to gear driven t-case adaptor?
as for the rear 3rd, crawl under it, and count the ribs on the side.
3 is 4 banger
4 is v6
chances are its a 4banger 3rd, lockers are cheaper for them.
good luck with the build, ive got a 90 4runner witha 22re/w56/ duals, sas on 36's

I'm trying to decide what size lift to go with when I do my sas. I'm thinking 4" for the front and 5" for the rear. It's gonna get 35's and I prefer to not do any trimming to the body, but the inner fenders would be ok. Is this gonna be proportionate? Will the tires look right? What do you think? Anyone with a pic of a second gen 4 runner with this setup would be appreciated.
Thanks

I like the size of the red one, looks just right. How much lift? any tire rubbing? Body lift?

Thanks for the info  Looks how I want mine.
Is anyone running a Marlin or similar off the shelf kit with the setup I mentioned (ie 4" w/35's)?
Let's see 'em. Thanks for any input.

I'm considering a 3" or 4" front lift and +1" in the rear. That way if I need more I can adjust with shackles. Anybody running this with 35's or 36's on a second gen runner ?

I'm going to look at a r151f tranny with t-case. I assume this is a direct bolt with a 22re in since it has the bellhousing?
Same flywheel?

speaking of parts... I have a 91 parts 4runner with a 3.0.

let me know if you need anything, its 40 mi north of Sandpoint, in Bonners Ferry.
I have gone up there a few times for parts I needed. I plan to tow it home and strip it here soon and after I strip it, it goes off to the Junkyard.

I'll take anything off and set it aside, If I still have it.

Yeah, I sold the jeep last week, kinda stoked and sad. Sold right away for what I was asking. Kept the Ramsey, OBA, cb, and high lift. I'm gonna put the tranny and cases in first so I can set the proper pinion angles afterwords.
Still looking for axles I don't have to give a kidney for.

you going leafs in the rear?

if you want go cheap and get 4in of lift....
you can run FJ80 Stock Rear coils and it will give you 3-4in lift in the rear.
that is what I am going to run.
and get a panhard drop bracket & you're set.

Just a thought.

I think I'm gonna do f-150's and use the lower control arm bracket for the front leaf bracket and creeper joints in the rear.
